Evaluates patients and helps them improve basic motor functions and reasoning abilities, but also compensate for permanent loss of function by teaching them to perform tasks in their daily living and working environments. These patients may have conditions that are mentally, physically, developmentally or emotionally disabling. May also assist patients in selecting appropriate adaptive equipment and assistive devices. Registered by the American Occupational Therapy Association and licensed by the State of Arkansas.
Education:
Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school
Current Arkansas Licensure in Occupational Therapy, in good standing
Selects continuing education in programs relevant to the department
Takes responsibility for his/her ongoing learning and professional development
Completes yearly in-services (Infection Control, Fire Safety, Safety Management and
Utilizes NARMC provided continuing education programs
Participates in work related in-services
Uses non-conventional educational methods, home study, on-line and journals appropriately
Experience:
1 to 2 years experience preferred
Degrees, Licensure and/or Certification:
BLS certification
