The Imaging services nurse is responsible for the assessment of and the practicing of nursing services appropriate for patients in the Imaging Services Department. All NARMC Nursing policies and procedures shall be adhered to with additional approved specific Imaging Services philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures integrated. Imaging Nurses have specific areas of supervisory authority and responsibility, (patient care, infection control and nursing procedures); help coordinate and conduct educational programs for students and staff and participate in and conduct QA/PI studies.
Evaluates patient outcomes as they relate to healthcare delivery as evidenced by monthly Performance Improvement reports.
Correctly completes procedure information in MEDITECH on all pts; including NP Charges
Initializes work.
Have knowledge of hospital policies and the functions of the other departments.
Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including pediatrics, geriatric and general population.
Corroborates patient’s clinical history with procedure, assuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner.
Understands method and is capable of performing venipuncture.
Verifies informed consent for, and assists a licensed practitioner with interventional procedures.
Complies with NARMC HIPPA Privacy and Security policies.
Understands responsibility to report issues with privacy, fraud and abuse, compliance and ethical conduct.
Reports equipment malfunctions immediately.
Correctly uses sterile technique procedures.
Assists in performing first aid for falls, bleeds, fainting, nausea, vomiting, allergic reactions, tissue tears and abrasions as necessary.
Correctly utilizes Biomedical disposal techniques and able to state what material are appropriate for biohazard disposal.
Secures and returns supplies, maintains room stock.
Demonstrates effective time management by completing commitments within standard time frames and schedules.
Makes suggestions of ways to improve.
Effectively communicates and works with supervisors.

Demonstrate how to turn non-invasive blood pressure monitor machine on and change automatic settings.
Demonstrate proper positioning of cuff on patient’s arm or leg to obtain blood pressure

Know where to obtain a large cuff if needed for patient.

Education: | The Imaging Services Nurse is required to be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and have a current state license. Certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Ability to act in a professional capacity and serve as a professional role model and function independently with minimal direct supervision. Must possess basic nursing skills; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)(or be eligible) and be proficient in IV access skills and ECG interpretation. | At least three to five years current acute medical - surgical experience, critical care or emergency department experience is preferred. |
