PSYCHIATRIC COMPANION

• Goal:  Keep patient safe from harming themselves or others

Requirements:

• Able to sit/stand and monitor patient one on one
• Able to call for help in the event of an emergency and not leave the patient
• Able to identify and notify staff of destructive behavior
• Able to activate emergency codes appropriately
• Maintain professionalism with patient/staff
• Remain calm with irate patient’s/families
• Adhere to strict HIPPA guidelines at all times.

FALL RISK COMPANION

• Goal:  Keep patient safe

Requirements:

• Able to sit/stand and assist patient quickly to prevent injury from falling
• Able to call for help in the event of an emergency and not leave the patient
• Able to identify/communicate patient needs with staff appropriately
• Able to effectively communicate with patient’s and family members
• Maintain professionalism with patient/staff
• Provide calm reassuring environment with confused/demented patients
• Adhere to strict HIPPA guidelines at all times.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
