Overview

Determines the nature and extent of the patient’s condition while trying to ascertain whether the patient has pre-existing medical problems

Provides appropriate emergency care and transports the patient when necessary

Requires certification as an EMT

Responsibilities

·        Complies with all rules and regulations pertaining to daily job functions

·         Maintains supplies and equipment in a state of professional preparedness

·         Works under pressure with minimal supervision.

·         Is able to multi-task and utilizes good decision making skills

·         Promotes a cooperative and respective relationship with other emergency personnel, entities or agencies

·         Utilizes EMS units in a fair, consistent and appropriate manner

·         Has high quality oral and written communication skills

·         Has a strong working knowledge of operational aspects of: computer, paging, and radio systems

·         Has a proficient knowledge of radio communication procedures and etiquette and applies them correctly

·         Has a strong working knowledge of the NARMC EMS coverage area including all major highways and towns

·         Knows the dispatch protocols and performs all included duties

·         Keeps the dispatch area clean and organized at all times

·         Is proactive in mentoring students, new hires and co-workers

·         Employee has initiative, finds work, self-motivates, looks for ways to improve self and service

Qualifications

Experience:

 

Acquires CEU’s as per certification level

 

Degrees, Licensure and/or Certifications:

 

EMT Arkansas License is required

Must have valid Class D driver’s license

Must provide evidence of recertification of EMT certification bi-annually

BLS certification

National License is optional (preferred but not required)

Must have a copy of a diploma or offical transcript of the highest level of education

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

Demonstrates professional growth through independent study

Demonstrates attendance at continuing education offerings EMS related

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English

 

May require successful completion of a physical abilities test.
