Overview

Responsible for performing simple specified nursing duties related to patient care, such as bathing, vital signs, enemas, non-sterile surgical dressings and patient observation.
Assists in preparation of supplies and helps maintain cleanliness and order on the nursing unit. 
Entry level job requiring some formal training or related experience

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to written and oral instructions prepared by nurse.                      
  • Performs all aspects of personal care and hygiene to patients   according to policies and procedures.
  • Utilizes proper and safe techniques for: ambulation, transfer, positioning, and ROM.
  • Prepares meals and demonstrates safe feeding techniques.
  • Provides housekeeping services to ensure a safe environment.
  • Demonstrates ability to guide family/caregiver regarding the personal care of the patient, inclusive of but not limited to ADL’s and Universal Precautions.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize and communicate needs of patient/family/caregiver to IDT.    
  • Demonstrates ability to document care and services provided as well as report observations and interventions to nurse, manager and/or IDT.
  • Demonstrates ability to provide supportive care to the patient/family/caregiver.
  • Demonstrates ability to use Hoyer Lift.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform end of shift duties i.e., housekeeping, empty trash containers, laundry, shift report, I&O, and cleaning of equipment.

Qualifications

Education:

 

Experience:

 

Previous experience as a nurse’s aide in a hospital, skilled nursing facility or an agency providing Home Health care or CNA or completed 40 hours training program, meeting state & federal regulations.

 

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:

Current Arkansas C N A license.

BLS Certification from American Heart Association

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

Ability to read, write and carry out directions, and maturity and ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job.

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
