The Claude Parrish Cancer Center sees patients for both Medical Oncology as well as Radiation Oncology. The APN's main responsibility would be to supervise and provide nursing care to cancer patients, monitor patient's condition, develop care plans, develop symptom management protocols, and administer medication directly or oversee the administration as it is delivered by RN staff.
Working in close collaboration with other healthcare team members, the Oncology NP conducts thorough physical assessments, writes prescriptions for medications, administers therapeutic measures, and evaluates the care that's provided. Practice includes both medical oncology and radiation oncology.
Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner(AOCNP) requires a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree or higher from an accredited school, completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, and at least 500 hours of supervised clinical practice as an adult Oncology Nurse Practitioner.
