  • Overview

    Can perform procedures without supervision. Is a self-starter and can perform tasks independently that are in direct correlation to job duties. Responsible for clinical duties such as taking vital signs, performing simple diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, sterilizing and cleaning equipment, and maintaining examination rooms at an outpatient care site. May also be responsible for some administrative duties. Is a representative of NARMC and conducts themselves toward their goals of good patient care.

    Responsibilities

    • • Demonstrates technical knowledge and competency.

      • Thorough understanding of QC and proper documentation.
      • Ability to conduct QC procedures (tests, instruments).
      • Can do trouble shooting and or calibration.
      • Participation in Proficiency testing
      • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
      • Keeps abreast of all changes, reads, and understands procedures.
      • Reports their work-related deficiencies so in-house training can be planned.
      • Flexibility. Works all shifts or departments as workload requires it.
      • Understands chain-of-authority and doesn’t circumvent it.
      • Follows NARMC polices.
      • Help maintain inventory of supplies. Notifies appropriate person of low supplies.
      • Reads procedure manuals within time frames.
      • Cares for and treats patients in the clinic as directed by the provider staff.
      • Prepares patients for and assists with examinations.
      • Dresses wounds and incisions, removes simple sutures and staples.
      • Interprets provider staff instructions to patient.
      • Assists with emergency and minor surgery and performs related tasks as directed.
      • Maintains records of vital statistics and other pertinent data of the patient.
      • Cleans and sterilizes instruments and equipment.
      • Maintains stock of supplies.
      • May conduct specified lab tests, perform electrocardiograms, and take and develop x-rays.
      • May act as a receptionist, perform secretarial duties, and assist with monthly statements under the direction of the office personnel.
    • ·         Utilizes technique charts for technique formulation.

      ·         Processes x-ray film.

      ·         Assists in maintaining basic records and reports, including charge coding, requisition and x-ray folder documentation.

      ·         Assists in maintaining files including charting, finding records and/or pulling x-ray folders.

      ·         Initializes work.

      ·         Adds pertinent information to requisition concerning Radiation Safety, clinical information, procedural notes. 

      ·         Correctly completes procedure information in Meditech on all pts; including NP charges

      ·         Can correctly burn a CD

      ·         Has knowledge of policies and functions of other departments.

      ·         Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including pediatrics, geriatric and general population.

      ·         Corroborates patient’s clinical history with procedure.

      ·         Selects and operates radiography equipment, imaging and/or associated accessories successfully.

      ·         Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest.

      ·         Determines radiographic technique for appropriate examination.

      ·         Evaluates radiographs or images for technical quality, assuring proper identification is recorded.

      ·         Complies with NARMC HIPAA Privacy and Security policies.

      ·         Understands responsibility to report issues with privacy, fraud and abuse, compliance and ethical conduct

      ·         Reports equipment malfunctions immediately.

      ·         Assists in providing ambulatory, wheelchair and/or stretcher transportation of patients using safe and good body mechanics.

      ·         Assists physicians in performance of examinations, holding and turning patients, and other related duties as required.

      ·         Fulfills work assignments in a timely manner.

      ·         Provides patient education and appropriate documentation.

      ·         Provides post procedure communication to patients. 

      ·         Communicates appropriately and completely with Radiologist(s) concerning procedures and patient care. 

      ·         Communicates and works together with the Imaging Services Nurses for Infection Control, patient care and patient education policy and procedures. 

      ·         Correctly uses sterile technique procedures.

      ·         Correctly utilizes Biomedical disposal techniques and able to state what material are appropriate for biohazard disposal.

      ·         Secures and returns supplies, maintains room stock.

      ·         Makes suggestions of ways to improve.

      ·         Effectively communicates and works with supervisors.

      ·         Identifies each patient and order beforehand.

      • Procedure competency  -   chest, c-spine, l-spine, t-spine, skull, shoulder, knee, ankle, foot, facial bones, elbow, ribs, wrist, pediatric chest, pelvis, hip, femur, and leg.
      • Shares the work load.
      • Overall quality of work.
      • Maintains loyalty to NARMC.

    Qualifications

     

    Required

    Preferred

    Education:

    High school diploma

    College credit in allied health classes

    Experience:

     

     

    Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:

    Limited Licensed Technologist License - This is for individuals who have passed the Limited Scope Examination in chest, extremity, skull/sinus, and/or spine. These individuals are only allowed to perform radiographic exams in the categories they have passed in the Limited Scope Examination. These individuals are not allowed to perform fluoroscopy or contrast media studies. 

    BLS Certification

    Certified Nursing Assistant

     

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Typing and computer skills.
