  • Overview

    The Clinical Therapist will be responsible for providing Psychosocial Assessments, counseling (group, family and individual), oversight of all activities, communication with referring counselors or social services directors and arranging alternative placement when needed.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Takes necessary self-precautions, and manages both patients and employees against infectious diseases. Also, insures environmental precautions when handling supplies and waste.
    • The Clinical Therapist will maintain regular contact with hospital departments for information, and to coordinate services.
    • The Clinical Therapist will maintain regular contact with patients, nursing staff, physicians, referral sources and families.
    • Appropriately answers the telephone in a professional, businesslike manner.
    • Interacts with referral sources in a pleasant and knowledgeable manner.
    • Begins Psychosocial Assessments within 72 hours of admission.
    • Completes Psychosocial Assessments within 72 hours of admission.
    • Conducts therapy groups daily for the Behavioral Health Unit.
    • Is familiar with medical terminology.
    • Documents group activity on appropriate forms and files in patient charts in a timely fashion.
    • Makes calls to referring counselors upon admission, twice weekly and on discharge.
    • Attends and actively participates in Multidisciplinary Treatment Team.
    • Assists patients in filling out daily menus.
    • Completes MTP Page One and CT Care Plans.
    • Conducts and documents the placement process for patients requiring placement.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of policies and procedures pertinent to position.
    • Maintains a positive attitude.
    • Accepts constructive criticism.
    • Adheres to established Dress Code.
    • Readily accepts additional duties.
    • Treats patients, visitors, physicians and coworkers with courtesy, dignity and respect.
    • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

    Qualifications

    Education:

     

    Master’s Degree preferably in Social Work or Counseling.

     

    Experience:

     

    Experience working with the psychiatric population.

     

    Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:

     

    Master’s Degree, BLS certification required, ACLS preferred. CPI or similar certification. Class D driver’s license.

     

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

     

    Knowledge of the psychiatric patient and the process for placing patients in appropriate facilities.
