  • Overview

    Responsible for clerical duties such as patient registration, insurance verification and eligibility, scheduling of patients, appointment reminders, and answering phones. May assist with referral coordination.  May also be required to assist in clinical duties such as, but not limited to, patient intake and rooming, performing waived laboratory testing, and maintaining examination rooms.

    Responsibilities

    • CCMA, CMA, RMA will perform functions within the scope of their certification practice.
    • Performs receptionist duties: Register patients in ECW as they sign into the clinic (verification of patient, insurance, ensuring necessary paperwork is filled out, i.e. HIPAA, emergency contact, guarantor of bill, collect co-pays, post payments, print receipts and clinic summaries, etc.)
    • Answering of phones and coordinating care/questions to the appropriate staff member via phone or message.
    • Ability to problem solve and assess possible emergent situations.
    • May explain clinic operations such as hours, payments, and scheduling restrictions.
    • Appointment scheduling, and confirmation of appointments via telephone.
    • Maintain electronic fax folder, distributing or scanning as necessary.
    • Assist with end of day drawer balances.
    • May assist with patient referrals to physician specialists. 
    • May perform limited clinical duties, if licensure allows and competency documented, duties such as: Patient Intake (taking vitals, patient history, updating medication list, phlebotomy).
    • May conduct lab testing, perform EKG’s. 
    • Cares for and treats patients in the clinic as directed by the physician/provider staff within scope of licensure/certificate training

    Qualifications

    Education:

     

    HS diploma or GED.

    CCMA, CMA, RMA

     

    Must have a copy of a diploma or offical transcript of the highest level of education

     

    Experience:

     

    Clinic office experience or related education.

    General office skills, excellent written and oral communication.

     

    Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:

     

    BLS certification, check off on competency

    CCMA, CMA, RMA

     

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

     

    Ability to read, write, speak and understand English

    Excellent written and oral communication skills

    Computer skills, Excel, Word and data entry skills

    Excellent customer services skills

    Ability to understand and follow written and oral directions

    Ability to communicate effectively

    Ability to consistently perform at a high level of concentration and attention to detail.
