  • Overview

    The Patient Financial Services Director is responsible for the direction and oversight of the functional units within the Patient Financial Services including Billing, Collections, Cashier, Insurance Credentialing, Denials Management, Charge Description Master, Cash Posting and Financial Counselors for all Hospital and Clinic operations. The Director is responsible for Patient Access and Centralized Scheduling. The Director coordinates with all NARMC staff to ensure all operational revenue management functions are aligned and optimized to exceed patient requirements, meet payer billing requirements, maximize cash collections and meet all key performance indicator goals while providing excellent customer service to patients and NARMC departments.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage all day to day operations, budget, and personnel within Patient Financial Services, Patient Access and Centralized Scheduling to ensure process optimization, accuracy and efficiency.
    • Assist in setting the strategic direction of the NARMC revenue cycle and identifying areas of continuous improvement in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer and other members of the NARMC Revenue Cycle team.
    • Develop strategies across functional departments to exceed cash projections, reduce days in Accounts Receivable, prevent nd appeal denials and other key performance indicators as determined by the Chief Financial Officer.
    • Ensure compliance with state and federal law, compliance plans, HIPAA and CMS Conditions of Participation guidelines.
    • Ensure that internal controls, policies and procedures are consistently developed, maintained and tested to optimize the overall control environment.
    • Identify new processes, procedures and technologies to enhance operations in all areas of the Patient Financial Services, Patient Access and Centralized Scheduling.
    • Manage third party vendor relationships to ensure quality work and contract compliance.
    • Ensure Managed Care contract compliance.
    • Identify areas to improve customer service and enhance patient satisfaction within the revenue cycle.
    • Maintain positive work culture within cross-departmental teams and align this work with other NARMC’s Standards of Behavior.
    • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein or as assigned by or the Chief Financial Officer

     

     

    Qualifications

     

    Required

    Preferred

    Education:

    Bachelor’s degree

     

    Experience:

    Eight years of progressive management experience in a healthcare environment, or other consulting experience

     

    Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:

     

     

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Advanced understanding of all billing and collection laws, rules and regulations.

    Strong analytical skills to facilitate improvement of key performance indicators.

     

    Advanced understanding of payer reimbursement schemes.

    Advanced knowledge of managing and preventing avoidable denials.

    Knowledge of cash application processes.

    Thorough knowledge of hospital, physician, home health, and hospice billing.

    Knowledge of RHC billing guidelines.

    Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPC coding.

    Thorough understanding of revenue cycle processes.

    Strong leadership presence and skills.

    Proven capabilities in building and leading teams.

    Ability to work with others in a cooperative, collaborative manner.

    Strong written and oral communication skills.

    Thorough understanding of the patient experience in relationship to the revenue cycle.

    Exceptional customer service skills.
