  • Overview

    Operates electrocardiograph (EKG) machines to record electromotive variations of patients’ heart muscle in order to provide data used by physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of heart ailments
    Gathers pertinent patient data and explains test procedures to patients
    Marks, edits, mounts and labels tracings for review and interpretation by physicians

    Responsibilities

    • Ability to operate ECG machine, taking care to observe patient and label tracing to show unusual patient conditions which might affect interpretation of tracing.
    • Prepare and reassure patient while attaching electrodes.
    • Perform clerical duties such as charting, logging and preparing patient charges.
    • Must be knowledgeable of the Meditech scanning process and perform steps as assigned or needed.
    • Must have working knowledge of Canofile system.
    • Keep ECG machines clean and functional.
    • Request materials and supplies as required.
    • Assist with public outreach activities, ECG’s and wellness programs when assigned.
    • Be available for emergency call when needed.
    • Must be knowledgeable on Oxygen safety and responsible for filling the liquid O2 cylinders located in patient areas within NARMC.

    Qualifications

    Education:

     

    Must have high school diploma or equivalent.

     

    Experience:

     

    On the job training and deemed competent in use of ECG machines.

     

    Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:

     

    Maintain current BLS certification.

     

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

     

    Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
