Overview

The Manager of Engineering assists and supports the Director of Engineering in the oversight of the physical assets, general maintenance, repairs, preventative maintenance, and minor construction of clinics and facilities.  Manages and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in maintaining the physical plant.  In collaboration with the Director, establishes standards for work and equipment use and maintenance.

 

Responsibilities

  • Repair/replace basic plumbing and electrical; light and immediate Repair/work with vendors to repair/replace appliances as needed.
  • Minor repairs of air conditioning/heating/electrical systems and work with HVAC technicians on more complex repairs as needed
  • Tour properties to look for needed maintenance and liability hazards; repair hazards or assign completion of these tasks to the appropriate vendor technicians.
  • Work in place of Construction and/or Maintenance Supervisor when needed.

Job requires:

  • Travel as needed to visit properties within the 50 miles of Harrison, Arkansas, using shared company vehicle.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in facility management.
  • Ability to delegate and communicate maintenance and operation methods to outside vendors.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb ladder,
  • The candidate will be required to pass a criminal history background check.
  • Licensed to drive in Arkansas and the ability to drive a pickup truck or van.

Education:

 

 

Experience:

5 – 10 years of facility engineering, maintenance, or construction experience.

 

Supervisory experience

 

Working knowledge of CMM

Experience with BMS

 

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:

Bachelor degree from an accredited school in facility management, construction management, engineering, or related field.  

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.

Knowledge of basic architectural, engineering and construction methods and processes

Strong knowledge and understanding in the following areas: physical plant operations and maintenance, mechanical / electrical / plumbing systems, fire / life safety in hospitals and clinics

Strong problem-solving skills.

Strong leadership skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent customer service skills.

Ability to respond to emergency situations 24/7.

Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively, work under pressure, and meet impossible deadlines.

Ability to exercise discretion, reasoning, and independent judgment.

Ability to articulate complex issues in lay terms; proficient in the development of policies and procedures

Ability to interact well with various constituencies, from trade shop staff to company employees, and external governmental agencies.

Ability to understand engineering specifications.

Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and generator systems.

Working knowledge of construction, blueprint reading, leases, and contracts.

Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and AutoCAD.

Working knowledge of ADH Rules and Regulations, NFPA and IBC fire and building codes, and OSHA regulations.

Working knowledge of landscaping and grounds keeping.

Working knowledge of fire protection systems, telecom and data networking, access control and video systems.
